AARP Safe Driving Class - October 17

Richmond Senior Center
The Richmond Senior Center will sponsor an AARP Safe Driving Course on October 17, 2018 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Please contact the Senior Center if you would like to register and participate.  401-491-9404 or
The objectives of the program are to help you:
•    Understand the effects of aging on driving.
•    Learn driving strategies that take into account the changes we experience as we age.
•    Identify the most common crash situations we face.
•    Reduce your chances of having a crash.
•    Update your knowledge and understanding of today’s roads, modern vehicles, and traffic laws.
•    New car technology is a challenge
•    Identify when driving may no longer be safe.
Anyone can take this program, but seniors 55 and over, and sometimes 50 +, check with your insurance company. You may get a discount on your automobile insurance for completing this program. Discounts vary.  Again, contact your insurer for the amount of discount they offer, for what length of time, either 2 or 3 years, and to see if you qualify. Upon completion of the class you will be provided a certificate to send to your insurer to obtain the discount.  Because this is a 4 hour course time will be allowed for a break.  The course fee is a $15.00 for AARP members and non-members pay $20.00.  There are no tests!  Registration will be required as space may be limited.  Elaine Squarrito, Rhode Island AARP Safe Driving Instructor will be conducting this program.  Checks should be made payable to AARP.  Most if not all seniors qualify for an Auto Insurance discount
